If you still have to take the test, please notify me right away.
Please Do Now:
Today, students will:
- Review, “The Emperors,” “The Rise of Christianity,” and “The Fall of Rome.”
- Divide into Second Quarter Groups
- Each group will be assigned a story about the Late Roman Empire (The Breakup of the Roman Empire, Constantine the Great and Christianity, Attila the Hun, Barbarians Invade Rome).
- Individually, answer the reading comprehension questions at the end of the story.
- As a group, make a 1-2 sentence summary of each section of the story. Do not try to impress me with your massive vocabulary. I want you to use simple language that anyone can understand. Also, underline any names and dates that you think the whole class might need to know (I want to see this final copy before you leave class today).
- Divide up the story sections so that each group member is responsible for 2-3 sections.
Tonight’s homework is:
- Create a minimum of ONE PowerPoint slide for EACH of the story sections you are assigned, and upload them all to your blogs (Due Thursday before you get to class).
- Don’t focus on Text-Art and flashy backgrounds – spend your time looking for historically accurate maps, sculptures, paintings, and the possible relevant historical cartoon.
- On Thursday we will go to the library and join the different group members’ work into one project per group. On next Tuesday, each group will present.
- You will be graded on both your individual work (what you post on your blog for homework), your group’s final product (what you load onto my flash drive on the end of class Thursday) and your role in the final presentation.
