Please Do Now:

Answer one of the following questions, depending on which comic book your group made over the weekend:

1. The Romans abducted the Sabine women.  When the Sabine men came to fight for them, the abducted women pleaded with men on both sides to make peace.  Why do you think the women asked the Sabines and the Romans to get along?  What reasons might they have had for not wanting their tribesmen to fight to rescue them?
2. Suppose you were Julius Caesar.  You were given one chance to address the senate and explain why you should be made dictator for life.  Draft your speech.

Today, students will (SSA.1.2.4, SSA.1.2.4):

1. Present their early Rome comic books to their peers
2. Understand how Rome’s government changed over time (Roman Republic)
3. Understand how Rome’s political structure and territory changed over time (Romans 1)
4. Learn the story of the Punic Wars (Hannibal)

Tonight’s homework is:

1. Read pages 150-154 and answer questions 1 and 3 on your blog.
2. Read pages 156-157 and answer questions 2 and 4 on your blog.
3. Read pages 158-161 and answer questions 2 and 4 on your blog.
